Manisa Ayşe Hafsa Sultan Medical History Museum
The Darüşşifa, which was added to the Sultan Mosque and Complex, which was started to be built in 1522 by Ayşe Hafsa Sultan, the mother of Suleiman the Magnificent, continues to be used as the History of Medicine Museum today, after healing patients for hundreds of years.
The Hafsa Sultan Medical History Museum, which has been in service at Manisa Celal Bayar University since 2013 and can be visited free of charge, reveals the developments and treatment methods in the history of medicine from the Ottoman period to the present. The hospital, where services such as eye surgeries and cauterization were provided at the time, has been used for the treatment of mental patients in the last 200 years. In the hospital where mental patients are treated with handicrafts, music and the sound of water, the visitors who come today are also greeted with musical accompaniment.
