Marmaris Castle and Archeology Museum
Marmaris Castle, one of the most important historical symbols of Marmaris, is located right behind the marina. The castle has 18 rooms, a fountain and 7 indoor areas. Fascinating with its history dating back to 1044 BC, the Ionian period, the building was renovated during the Rhodes Expedition and again suffered great damage during the First World War. The castle has also been hosting its visitors as an ethnography museum since 1991. The museum consists of archeology and ethnography departments. In the archeology section, various artifacts related to many civilizations that have lived in the region until now are exhibited. In the ethnography section, various craft works and daily life objects, especially from the Ottoman period, are exhibited.
