Maşat Tumulus
As a result of the excavations carried out in Maşat Höyük Archaeological Site between 1973-1984, very important artifacts that can shed light on the history of Tokat were unearthed. The most important of these works are the tablets written in Hittite cuneiform. These artifacts unearthed as a result of excavations are exhibited in the Tokat Museum. There are three periods in Maşat Höyük, the Old Bronze Age in 3000 BC, the Hittite Age in 2000 BC, and the Phrygian Age in 1000 BC. In Maşat Höyük, Boğazköy Hattusa's palace of a margrave of the Hittite Empire was also found. In addition, quite wide streets of the city paved with stones were unearthed. In addition, a malt made of terracotta used for heating palaces, which has not been found anywhere in Turkey until now, was also unearthed here. The most important artifacts unearthed as a result of excavations are the materials used in this palace. There are pots made of terracotta, ritons and various seals.
