Meherkapi Inscription
It is located on a rock on the western slopes of Zimzim Mountain, just northeast of Van, 600 meters west of Rusahinili, the second capital of Tuşba. The literal meaning of Meher is "illuminating" in Armenian. As with other monumental rock gates, it was named this because it was believed that God Haldi would emerge from this gate in a beam of light. In addition, among various legends, it is believed that the spoils and horses belonging to Hz. Ali are located here and that this gate is opened one day every year. Another belief is that the gate with the treasure inside was opened after a shepherd recited the gate's talisman. The shepherd who entered fell asleep here, forgot the talisman when he woke up and could not get out again. Meher Gate, built in the name of God Haldi during the reign of Urartian king İşpuini (830-810 BC) and his son Minua (810-785/80 BC), is an important religious center built by carving limestone rocks.
