Melik Ahmet Pasha Mosque
Melek Ahmed Pasha Mosque is a historical mosque located in Sur district of Diyarbakir. The mosque, which has the influence of Mimar Sinan in its plan and architecture, was built by Melek Ahmed Pasha in the 16th century.
The mosque was built by Melek Ahmed Pasha from Diyarbakir during his governorship during the Ottoman period between 1587 and 1791. The influence of Mimar Sinan can be seen in its plan and architecture. The mosque consists of ground plus one floor. The south and north facades of the two-storey building, which was built with two-color stone materials, were built of black and white stone rows, and the deaf side walls were built of black rubble stones. There are four vaulted rooms on the ground floor. While there are warehouses and shops under the mosque, there is a mosque at the top. There is an abbara under the west wing of the building, which gives a passage to the street. The minaret of the mosque, which has a large courtyard and is entered through a basalt door carved with fine motifs, was built on an ornate plinth. In the courtyard of the mosque; There is a burial ground and a rectangular ablution area. It has an altar covered with tiles.
