Menua (Şamram) Water Canal
The canal was built by the Urartian King Minua to bring plenty of water to the capital Tuspa, to the vineyards and gardens along the canal. More than five thousand hectares of land are irrigated along the canal. The channel, partly dug into the ground and partly carved into the rock, is 50 km long and has an average width of 2.5 meters. The Minua (Şamram) Canal, which is still used today, is one of the unique examples of water engineering that has been actively used for 2800 years.
