Merinos Textile Industry Museum

Merinos Textile Industry Museum can be visited in the Merinos district of Osmangazi, located in the city center of Bursa. Merinos Wool Enterprise, which was first opened by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1938, is one of the symbol enterprises of the history of the Republic and Bursa. Today, Merinos Wool Enterprise has been restored with the support of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, designed in accordance with museum architecture and left to future generations. Merinos Textile Industry Museum was completed on 14 October 2011 within the scope of the projects of keeping the cultural heritage alive and protecting Bursa's cultural heritage and opened its doors to the visit of the public and enthusiasts. In this museum, the main goal is to introduce each part of the entire production process in the former Bursa Merino Factory to the visitors. The museum consists of four main sections. For this purpose, in the museum; From how the raw wool fiber comes to the factory to the formation of the yarn, from the yarn to how the weaving is obtained, how the dyeing and finishing processes are done and how the ready-made garments are produced, all the production processes are seen. In each section, it is clearly seen which stages the dirty wool fleece taken from Merino sheep goes through. In addition, the machines and material samples used in this production process are arranged in such a way that they will be exhibited in these four separate sections. In short, the story of how wool fleece turned into woolen fabrics is told in this museum.
