Molla Zeyrek Mosque

Zeyrek Mosque or Pantokrator Monastery Church is a religious building from the Eastern Roman period in the Zeyrek district of Istanbul. The church consists of three separate chapels. It is the largest surviving old church in Istanbul after Hagia Sophia. The first church in the south II. It was built in the first quarter of the 12th century by John's wife, Irene. After the death of his wife, the emperor built a second church to the north of the church, and eventually a third church was built to unite them. After the conquest of Istanbul, the first madrasah was opened here. Its teacher was Zeyrek Mehmed Efendi. When the construction of the new madrasahs along with the Fatih Kulliye was completed, the madrasah here was closed and the building became a mosque. Currently, only the southern part is used as a mosque.
