Mucur Underground City
n the Cappadocia region, there are many underground cities belonging to the 3rd and 4th centuries, built by Christians for protection, shelter and worship. One of them, Mucur Underground City, located in the Mucur district of Kırşehir, is located at a depth of 7-8 meters from the ground.
In the underground city, which has many rooms, there are corridors that were built to pass from one place to another and are wide enough for people to move forward only by bending, circular shaped cap stones that are thought to be built to divide the corridors and close the rooms, and ventilation shafts opened above the ground.
In addition, there are places of worship and barns that are wide enough to accommodate mostly small cattle.
