Musalla Mosque (Adıyaman)

The exact date of construction of the mosque in the center of Adıyaman is not known. It is rumored that its minaret was destroyed as a result of an earthquake in 1308 AH 1890. So it must have been built earlier. As the only data that allows to date the building, it can be said that the mosque was built in the 17th or 18th century by looking at the architectural and plan order. The mosque with the courtyard was made of smooth cut stone. In the north of the mosque, there is a dome in the middle, pointed arches with a flat roof, and the last congregation place with five chambers opening to the courtyard. The central part of the sanctuary, which consists of three parts, has a dome and the other two parts have a cross vault cover. The mihrab, placed in the middle of the qibla wall, has a pointed arched muqarnas hood, which sits on two colonnades. Next to the mihrab, it has a minbar made of stone. The minaret is adjacent to the narthex in the southwest corner of the mosque courtyard. The minaret with a single balcony surrounded by three rows of muqarnas ends with a cylindrical honeycomb and cone.
