Namazgah Bastion

After the Kilitbahir Castle, the construction of the Namazgah Bastion, consisting of 26 bonnets, was started on the sea side of the road, upon the suggestion of Baron De Tott, who came for the improvement of the Ottoman Army. It is the first and largest bastion established at the narrowest point of the Dardanelles Strait. It gained the Central Bastion with the structures added later. This was the headquarters of the 4th Heavy Artillery Regiment, to which the batteries that served in the bastion were attached during the Dardanelles War. For this reason, it has always been one of the main targets of the allied navy. There were 16 coastal guns in the bastion. Of these, 2 are long range and 14 are short range. Only 2 of them actively served in naval combat, while the others could not be used due to lack of range. It is known that the place located on the main axis of the bastion was used as the Combat Operations Center during the war. Çanakkale war objects are exhibited in the bastion, which was last restored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2005-2006 and opened to visitors on March 18, 2006. Historical information about the battles is given on 12 exhibition panels in the building. After passing this part, a short video showing the 7-minute Naval Battles is performed inside the bonnets. Again on one of the hoods, an exhibition with a sound system that revives wartime intelligence communications is presented to the visitors. In the same section, photographs of sunken Allied ships are also exhibited.
