Porto Calamie was used as the sea gate for pilgrims who came to worship Korykion Antron during the Antiquity and the Middle Ages. A Roman bath was built here by taking advantage of the fresh water source, which was born in Korykion Antron and mixes with the sea in the small bay in Porto Calamie and has a temperature of up to 28°C. The floor mosaic and water trough remained from the bath, which was built by the Byzantine Empire's Holy Islands Governor Poimenios in the 4th century to offer healing to the local people. Aglaia, Thalia and Euphrosine, the daughters of Zeus, known as the Three Graces, are depicted in the mosaic, which was produced using black, white and yellow stones. The mosaic is also decorated with geometric shapes, bird and flower motifs. The Ancient Greek inscription on the mosaic reads: "O friend, if you ask who found the hidden source of the water of this beautiful bath, know that it is Poimenios, who honestly ruled the Holy Islands and was a friend of the emperors." is writing. In order to preserve the ruins of the baths, which disappeared over time, work was started in 1975 and the 65.28m² museum building built on the mosaic was opened in 1976.
