Oslu Haji Hasan Efendi Mausoleum

Oslu Hoca Tomb: Located in the village of AKŞAR (Balahor), by the highway, 25 km from Bayburt.

To learn about Oslu Hoca, I found his relatives and met with his grandson, Hacı Yusuf USLU, in Gölcük. We chatted, and his grandson told us about him. He also told us about him using the books and manuscripts he had. We had a conversation about this great scholar.

First, let's get to know Yusuf USLU;

He was born in Bayburt in 1930. He finished elementary school in Bayburt in 1944. He graduated from the Pulur Village Institute in Erzurum and served as a reserve officer in the military. He married in 1952 and has two daughters and five grandchildren. After his military service, he was assigned to Gölcük and has been residing there since 1969. He retired in 1977.

Now let us listen to our great scholar Oslu Hoca from his grandson:

The real name of our teacher, one of the scholars raised by our beloved Bayburt, is Hacı Hasan Efendi. I would like to begin describing my grandfather with these lines by the poet Zihni:

"He scrutinizes every detail, a scholar like Oslu,

His knowledge of interpretation is the creation of Bayburt."

Although the exact dates of his birth and death are unknown, an inscription written about him in 1257 AH, as can be understood from the praise, indicates that he lived 160 years ago (now: 1998), that is, at the end of the 17th century.

Oslu Hoca, as a child, migrated with his family from the mountain village of OS, located in the Sürmene district and named after it, to settle in the village of Akşar (Balahor).
