Palata Fountain

One kilometer north of Erdek, it is a fountain that always has abundant and cold water flowing from its gutter. While the Greek name "Poğathon" is thought to come from "Pan Ağatan" or "Pıgoten" meaning spring, some ancient writers also mention the possibility of the fountain being "Artake Fountain". Today's Palata Fountain was carved out of pink colored stones. There is an arch in the form of a mihrab in front of it. Only marble was used on both sides of the trough and on the fountain.
