Pink Cliffs
Pink Rocks are located in Kefken town of Kandıra district of Kocaeli. These rocks, which attract attention with their interesting geological structure, have been used as a quarry since ancient times. Finds from prehistoric periods were also found in this location.
The rocks, which are soft in the water, harden after being quarried. Because of these properties, they were cut into rectangles during the Ottoman period, transported to Istanbul by sea and used in architecture. It is known that they were used in many Ottoman works, especially the Sultan Ahmet Mosque and Rumeli Fortress.
Pink Rocks welcomes thousands of visitors every year who want to have their photos taken.
