Pir Sücaaddin İlyas Tomb

The tomb, which is located in Pirler Park to the south of Çilehane, is also known as Yukarı Pirler Tomb. It was built by Gümüşlüzade Ahmet Bey in 1486 for Şeyh Sücaeddin Pir İlyas from Gümüşlüzade family. In addition to Pir İlyas, there are graves of his son-in-law Pir Celaleddin Abdurrahman, grandson Pir Hayreddin Hızır Çelebi and their families in the tomb. The building, which was renovated by Gümüşlüzade İbrahim Pasha in 1688, was demolished after the 1895 earthquake, but was rebuilt at a later date and took its current form.

The interior of the transverse rectangular mausoleum is divided into three parts by two pointed arches resting on the buttresses on the north and south walls. The parts are covered with domes. The part to the west is used as a masjid with a mihrab on the qibla wall. The mausoleum, of which smooth cut stone was used, is illuminated by the round-arched windows on its facades. On the entrance door, there are the original construction inscription of the tomb and the restoration inscription of the Second Abdulhamid Period.
