Reji Church (Saint Petrus and Saint Paulus Church)
St. Peter and St. Paulus Church is northeast of Ellisekiz Square. The building was built in 1861 on the ruins of a 6th century church. Church, St. Since it was built in memory of the two apostles of Jesus, it bears their name. The building was actively used until 1924, that is, when the Assyrians from Urfa migrated to Aleppo (Syria). St. Peter and St. Paulus Church was used as a tobacco factory and then a grape store by the Tekel administration in 1924. The church was named by the people as "Reji Church" because of the French word for Tekel, Regie (Reji). Written tombstones unearthed from the church were sent to the Urfa Museum. The church was restored by the Şanlıurfa Governor's Office in 1998 and opened as the "Governor Kemalettin Gazezoğlu Cultural Center" on May 24, 2002. Today it is still used for various social events.
