Rüstem Pasha Caravanserai

Rüstem Pasha Caravanserai, which was built by Grand Vizier Rüstem Pasha in 1552 during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, in the Ereğli district of Konya, is one of the most important cultural assets in the city.

Rüstem Pasha Caravanserai, the work of Mimar Sinan, next to the Great Mosque in the city center, reflects the basic features of Ottoman architecture with its rectangular planned and porticoed courtyard. The main wall is made of cut stone and the arches are made of bricks. The building has rooms, a large courtyard and a large barn section.

The caravanserai, which has two entrance gates called Baghdad and Konya Gate, and is covered with barrel vaults, serves the youth and readers as the "Nation's Coffeehouse" after the restoration works carried out in the recent period.
