Rüstempaşa Mosque and its Complex

It consisted of a complex, mosque, madrasah, covered bazaar, caravanserai, Turkish bath, soup kitchen and library. Today, the mosque, bath, covered bazaar, madrasah and library of the complex are still standing. The complex, which was built by Grand Vizier Rüstem Pasha in 1554, bears the signature of Mimar Sinan. The minaret of the mosque with a single balcony, made of cut limestone, is on the right. The entrance door is ivory inlaid on walnut wood. Door and window wings are decorated with geometric motifs. The round 5-column marble fountain in the garden was built during the reign of Abdülmecit.
