Şadırvanaltı Mosque
Şadırvanaltı Mosque or Şadırvan Mosque is a mosque located in İzmir, Turkey. Şadırvanaltı Mosque, located in Kemeraltı and named after the fountain under it, was built in 1636 by Bıyıklıoğlu Mahmut. It was repaired in 1815 and in 1883 after it suffered several fires. In 1834, a library and a timetable were added to the mosque. The minaret of the mosque was taken into maintenance in 1941. In 2022, the 65-year-old fountain in the square behind the mosque was demolished by a tradesman. The Governor's Office and the Metropolitan Municipality announced that those responsible will be punished, and that the fountain, which was not built half a century ago, will be rebuilt. Şadırvanaltı Mosque was built without a courtyard and with various shops on the lower floor in accordance with the commercial area it is located in. There is a minaret with a single balcony made of cut stone to the east of the mosque, and a fountain to the west and north. The eight-columned fountain in the west is larger and has a library on it.
