Şah Melek Mosque

The mosque, located at the beginning of the Gazi Mihal Bridge on the Kapıkule road in the west of the city, was built by Mehmed I and II. It was built in 832 (1429) by Shah Melek Pasha, who was the governor of Rumelia during the reign of Murad II. The rectangular planned mosque is located in a courtyard. 2-2.5 m from the road passing through the east of the courtyard ground level. below. The building, which was built with smooth cut stone and brick material, was repaired by the General Directorate of Foundations in 1963, 1965 and 1966. When the facades of the building are examined, it is understood that it took its present appearance as a result of repairs. There is a tomb belonging to Sefer Shah and a small burial ground in the courtyard where the tomb of the builder is located. Although it was known that there was a madrasah next to the mosque in the past, the structure has not reached the present day.
