Şahruh Bridge

Şahruh Bridge is a historical bridge located in the Karaözü village of Sarıoğlan district of Kayseri province. There is no inscription regarding the construction of the bridge. But there is an inscription regarding its restoration in 1538 (the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent). According to this inscription, the bridge was built by Şahruh, son of Alaüddevle Bozkurt Bey from Dulkadiroğulları Principality. Şahruh Bey must have built this bridge in Dulkadiroğulları Principality when he was the governor of Kırşehir. Since Şahruh Bey was punished by his uncle Shah Budak Bey in 1480, it is understood that the bridge was built in 1480 at the latest. The repair in 1538 was made by Mehmet Bey, son of Şahruh Bey. On the other hand, on the page prepared by the Seljuk Municipality, there is the opinion that the bridge may have been built during the Seljuk period and restored by Şahruh Bey. The bridge is in the east-west direction. Its length is 144.5 meters and its width is 5.6 meters. The bridge has 8 arches and the widest arch is 12 meters wide. The bridge is still usable.
