Sakarya Ağa Mosque
A simplicity is also striking inside the Ağa Mosque, located on Kömürpazarı Bankalar Street. The walls are not ornate, and there are religious inscriptions in the frames. The building built on a stone foundation is masonry. It is one of the small mosques in Adapazarı. It was built in two floors and its minaret was added later. The mosque, which is said to be 200 years old, has a roof, is paved with tiles and does not have a dome. The fountain in the front garden of the mosque was demolished in 2001 and a new fountain was built in the back garden. There was no excessive ornamentation in its mihrab, and no tile decoration was found. It has only been shaped a little with oil paint. Its ceiling is wooden flooring, and the elliptical wooden decoration in the middle of the ceiling is interesting. There is no definite information about the identity of the person who built the mosque and the date of its construction. However, it is known that the mosque area was previously a cemetery, and the cemetery was canceled and this mosque was built instead. As can be understood from the examination of the only remaining grave stone in the front garden; It is stated that the person lying in the grave in question was a soldier and was a flag bearer, his name was Mustafa, and he was martyred in 1774. The construction of the mosque probably corresponds to before this date.
