Santa Ruins
Santa Ruins is located within the borders of Dumanlı Village of Yağmurdere Subdistrict, approximately 82 kilometers from Gümüşhane city center. It was built on three separate slopes separated from each other by the valleys where Santa Yanbolu Stream originates.
The Santa Region was conquered together with the entire Trabzon and Eastern Black Sea region during the reign of Mehmet the Conqueror - between 1461 and 1476 - and was included in the territory of the Ottoman Empire. Due to the efficient operation of the existing iron, lead and silver mines in the Santa basin, the region developed significantly and reached economic prosperity in the 16th-18th centuries.
