Saraçhane Bridge

Saraçhane Bridge, also known as Şahabettin Paşa Bridge or Horozlu Bridge, is an Ottoman bridge located in Edirne, over the Tunca River. The bridge was built in 1451 by Rumeli's Governor Şahabettin Pasha, one of the important names of the period of Murad II. It was built on the Tunca River near Sarayiçi in the northwest of the city. It consists of 11 piers and 12 arches, 120 meters long and 5 meters wide. The bridge, whose middle arch was destroyed in 1702, was repaired and extended by 50 meters in 1706 during the reign of Sultan Mustafa II. It is called by this name because there is Saraçhane Neighborhood to the east of the bridge.
