Sevim and Necdet City Library

It is on the left at the entrance of Ayvalık – Alibey Island. This monastery and church, located in the form of a medieval castle; It was founded by two monks from Edremit shortly after the conquest of Istanbul by Mehmet the Conqueror and is attributed to St. John (St. John, St. John). It housed the important saints, patriarchs and monks of the period.

From 1835 on, the library here began to develop. Besides religious books, he was also famous for his publications on 17th and 18th century jurisprudence. The mill and church that survived from those times were restored with the efforts of Rahmi KOÇ and put into service on 07.08.2007. The library, which will serve under the Rahmi Koç Museum and Culture Foundation, was named after Retired Ambassador Necdet H. Kent and his wife. On the ground floor of the mill, you can find local souvenirs and special olive oils and benefit from their books.
