Seyyid Vakkas Tomb

Historical / Turkiye, Black Sea, Giresun

Seyyid Vakkas Tomb

He was one of the end beys of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. He was martyred while trying to open the gates of the conquest of Giresun to the Ottoman armies and was buried in the place where he was martyred. In 1888, Mehmet Ali Bey from Rizeli built his tomb, which is a typical Kümbet of the 19th century Ottoman architecture, instead of the wooden visitor's center. Giresun Seyyit Vakkas Tomb is an octagonal body and domed structure. There are projects of the tomb in archive records. It is in the city center and is frequently visited by local and foreign visitors and the people of the region.
