Sığacık Castle

Sığacık Castle is a castle located in the Seferihisar district of İzmir province in Turkey. It is located in the Sığacık District from which it got its name, just northeast of the Sığacık Port, which is still used today. It is estimated that Sığacık Castle was built during the Seljuk period. The most important repair phase of the castle, which was repaired during the Aydınoğulları and Ottomans period, took place between 1521-1522 when the Teos ruins were used as a quarry by the navy commander, Parlak Mustafa Pasha, upon the order of Kanuni Sultan Süleyman, who was prepared for the Rhodes Campaign with the suggestion of Piri Reis during the Ottoman period.
