Silahdar Ömer Paşa Mosque

The Silahtar Ömer Pasha Mosque is a mosque located in Akça town of Erbaa district of Turkey's Tokat province, made of wood and cut stone without using any nails thanks to the "Çandı Technique", owned by the General Directorate of Foundations and still in use. Since the construction epitaph of the mosque has not survived, there are differences of opinion regarding the dating. The first opinion is that the mosque is an Ottoman work of the second half of the 17th century, as there are architectural features reflecting the history of H.1087/M.1676 and the understanding of that period on a gazelle skin plate in the mosque. According to the second view, the mosque is a Seljuk work built in 1082 and has been renovated on different dates. Due to the gifts given to the mosque by Silahdar Ömer Pasha, who was a governor and governor in different cities in the 17th century, and the date engraved on these gifts, the date of establishment is mistakenly thought to be the 17th century. It is stated that a foundation was established in 1707 for the repair of the mosque. In addition, during the examinations, a piece of tile was found and it was understood that the date 18 September 1278 (1862) was included in this piece. On the two copper candlesticks in the mosque, it is written that Silahtar Ömer Pasha dedicated the candlesticks to the mosque in 1688. In this case, it can be thought that the mosque was built on or before this date. It is valuable as a wood-density mosque that has preserved its original structure in Anatolia.
