Sivas Industrial School Museum
Vocational education in the Seljuk and Ottoman states was carried out by the Ahilik and Guild organization until the Tanzimat period. The defeats and modernization brought by the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century caused these organizations to gradually lose their influence and become inadequate. For this reason, after the Tanzimat, with the initiative of Sultan Abdülmecid in 1845, the Muvakkat Education Council convened and it was decided to open vocational education institutions. During the reign of Abdulhamid Han, the opening of industry and trade schools was accelerated and made widespread. Vocational schools were built and put into operation in many provinces and towns from Istanbul to the Danube, from Beirut to Diyarbakir, from Sivas to Aksaray. Organized in the concept of Living Museum, the building has a closed area of 1,765 m² and an open area of 22,925 m²; Chamber of Industry School, Prison Chamber, Sivas-Specific Items and Artifacts Hall, Carpet and Rug Workshop, Musical Instruments Workshop, Sivas Mouthpiece and Sivas Pen Workshop, Sivas Knife Workshop, Sivas Comb Workshop, Silver Workshop, Copper Workshop, Foyer, Conference Hall consists of practice workshops and service units for traditional handicrafts such as the Museum Outlet, the Cafeteria and the Management Unit.
