Square Hatuniye Mosque (Tokat)
The mosque built by Sultan Beyazıt 11 on behalf of his mother, Gülbahar Hatun, is referred to as "Hatuniye Mosque" in the records. It was built in 1485 on a large area in Meydan Mahallesi, from which it took its name. It is one of the most beautiful Ottoman works made in Tokat. There is a last congregation place with 5 domes, consisting of a single minaret and 6 columns, built of cut stone. The marble portal of the Meydan Mosque with Seljuk style scalactites and the wooden door wings made in the künde kari technique are masterpieces of art.
