St. Suitbertus

On the site of the previous building, the early 8th-century St. Peter's monastery church, St. The University church of Suitbert was built around 1050 from tuff. It was built in two different eras: the nave is late Romanesque, while the choir, consecrated in 1237, clearly shows Gothic elements. In 1264 the bones of Saints Suitbertus and Willeicus († about 726) were transplanted here, and today the richly decorated temple of Suitbertus from this period is one of the few surviving fragments from the formerly extensive church treasury. The former college church and today's St. The parish church of Suitbertus is a flat-roofed, three-aisled columnar basilica in Düsseldorf's Kaiserswerth district. The parish of the same name belongs to the Angerland/Kaiserswerth Catholic parish community.
