St. Virgin Mary Church

The Orthodox Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (St. Virgin Mary Church), built as a Catholic church by the Zubalashvili brothers in Batumi in 1897; It represents a cultural heritage of national importance with its Neo-Gothic architecture consisting of three domes.


Like other religious buildings in the city, the church, which was closed during the Soviet period, was used as a laboratory for a while, but today it is open to worship as the main cathedral of the Batumi and Lazeti Diocese.
