Süleyman Tower and Ancient Caves

Suleyman Tower is an Ottoman structure located in Adana province. The building is located in the south of Adana, west of Yumurtalık town, on the Mediterranean coast, at 36°46'07"N 35°46'37"E coordinates, 2 kilometers from Yumurtalık city center and 85 kilometers from Adana. .

The structure is a maritime watchtower built by the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in 1536. Ancient Yumurtalık (Ayas) was a bustling trading port. The tower was built as an early warning against pirates who would raid the port. The building has a pentagonal plan and narrow observation windows. It is also known as the "armed Ayas tower" because it was built for military purposes.

Since 2014, studies have been started to organize the surrounding of the tower and bring it to tourism.
