Suleymaniye Mosque

It is in Meydankapi area. Although the mosque was built by Sheikh Ömer Efendi and the date of 1723 is given for its construction, there is no inscription of the construction of the mosque. Later in 1877 by Governor Ahmet Kemal Pasha; This mosque was repaired with the endowment of the dilapidated Mosque Sharif in the name of Suleiman the Magnificent. The interior of the mosque, which has a rectangular plan close to a square, is covered with a wooden roof. The wooden minaret of the mosque was renewed in the last repair, and the body was covered with copper and the cone part was covered with lead plates. The entrance to the sanctuary is through the wooden entrance, which is attached to the north wall of the mosque and has been renovated in the last repair. The upper floor of the wooden entrance is arranged as a ladies' gathering place. Access to the minaret is provided by the staircase on the right of this entrance section, and the entrance to the mahfil section on the upper floor is provided by the staircase on the left. Rectangular windows at the bottom and pointed arched windows at the top attract attention. The stones of different sizes seen on the walls of the mosque must be evidence of the 1877 repair. Lastly, the mosque, which was started to be repaired in 2010, was opened to worship again in 2011.
