Sümbül Baba Lodges
It is learned from the inscription on the portal of the building, which is located on Gazi Osman Paşa Boulevard in the center of Tokat, that it was built in H.691 (M.1291-92) by Sümbül, son of Hacı Abdullah, and called Darü's-Süleha. According to Evliya Çelebi, the building was used by the Rufai and Bektashi orders at different times. A wooden house was built during a repair at the end of the 19th century, right next to the portal, on the eastern façade of the building, whose original architecture was damaged by the repairs it underwent in various periods. Structure; It consists of a central space covered with a dome, an iwan connected to it, a corridor opening to this section, and ancillary units and a tomb. From the portal on the eastern facade, one passes to the entrance section in the form of a corridor. Opposite the entrance area, there is a rectangular planned space close to a square, and three separate spaces of different sizes are located in the northern part. These three rooms are covered with wooden ceilings and the square ones with vaults. Through the door in the south of the entrance section, the central space covered with a dome, which has the nature of a courtyard, is passed. The illuminated lantern of the central dome was later turned off. From the vaulted iwan to the east of the central space, the square-planned tomb covered with a dome is reached. There is a window on the east side of the tomb. The zawiya part of the building was built with rubble stone masonry technique, and the tomb was built with rubble stone and cut stone. Cut stone was used in the iwan arch and niche arches, and brick was used in the domes and transition elements. The portal, which contains the only decorations in the building, is made of white marble. There are mihrabiye niches on both sides of the pointed arched door of the portal with muqarnas cavities. Apart from this, it has an ornament consisting of columnar columns with vegetal motifs, plain borders and a thick border with acanthus leaves surrounding the portal from three directions.
