Tabea Ancient City
Tabae Ancient City looks like a natural castle. Until 30 years ago, the old castle was inhabited. Tabae is one of the city-states established in Anatolia after Alexander the Great. Tabae has been the scene of an uninterrupted settlement since the Hellenistic Period. He minted coins in his own name in Antiquity. The coins were first minted in silver and later in bronze. The main structures in the acropolis are:
Rock-Carved Niche Building: It is in the north-east of the acropolis. The building was built in the north-south direction and is rectangular in plan. There are four niches carved into the rock inside the eastern wing of the wall. There are no niches on the west side of the wall. There are architrave fragments, altars and columns around and inside the building.
One Room Houses Carved into the Rocks: They were built as single rooms by carving the natural rocks. They must have been used as a house. It is understood from the door niches and tenons found in the houses that the doors are made of wood. There are also niches in the interior of the rooms. These houses are usually located on the cliff and steep part of the rocky plateau. Until 1957, the Kale district campus continued in this area. The district moved to its current location in 1957. In the ancient city, there is the Cevher Pasha Mosque with 19th century Ottoman Wooden Architecture.
