Taksiarhis Greek Orthodox Church

Taksiarhis Greek Orthodox Church; It was built in 1899 in Arnavutköy Sales Square on the Rumelian side of the Bosphorus. It is known that the church was dedicated to the archangel Michael, who was believed to have healing powers by wealthy Greeks in the 16th century. Although there is information about this church during the Byzantine period, there is no inscription on the church describing this period. It is known that the structure was destroyed and repaired many times. Today's church was built between 1896-1899. It is read from the inscription of the building that it was built by Muzuros Pasha. There is a family grave belonging to Muzuros Pasha in the south of the naos. Taxiarhis church is in a large courtyard. The entrance to the courtyard is from the southwest. Ayia Paraskevi Parek-klesion is located in the southwest of the building. The building material is plaster on cut stone. The church was built with a closed Greek cross plan on the east and west axis. Two sloping hipped roofs were used as roofs. The roof of the cross in the North and South was kept at a higher level, giving the building a monumental appearance. A dome was used in the main naos. There is a bell tower on the western axis. The church bears the architectural features of the 19th century. An eclectic decoration was used in interior and exterior elements. This church is the most monumental building among the churches in this area.
