Taşhan Tokat

Taşhan (Voivoda Han) is an Ottoman building built in the 17th century, located in the historical city center of Tokat. It is located on Gaziosmanpaşa Boulevard. Tashan, one of the most beautiful hostels in Turkey, is one of the biggest city inns in Anatolia. It is a two-storey building with an open courtyard, rectangular in plan, made of cut stone and brick, in a north-south position. There are doorless shops with open-air shops inside on the north and east directions, and doorless shops on the south and west directions. The entrance to the second floor is on the right and left at the end of the entrance corridor. On the second floor, all rooms open to the hall. Above the entrance is a domed space protruding from the consoles. Each room has a window opening to the outside, a fireplace and a niche. Today, the courtyard of the 112-room building is used as a tea garden, and the rooms are used as handicraft shops and workshops. Since the middle of the 1600s, Tokat has been a voivodeship. Taş Han is also called "Voivoda Han" because it is one of the works brought to the city by the voivodes. In the courtyard of the inn, there is a fountain embroidered with figures and motifs. The fountain is thought to have been built in the 19th century or later. After the 1939 earthquake, some of the cloister vaults and courtyard porch on the east were destroyed, and the Han had a closed and disconnected period from 1997 to 2007. It was tendered to build a hotel in 1998, but the tender was canceled at the initiative of the General Directorate of Foundations. It was restored to its original state in 2007 and started to be used with a new function. There are a total of 103 event venues, 76 of which are indoor and outdoor.
