Tekkale Monastery
The church is similar to the Barhal Church in terms of plan. It reflects the medieval period monastery formation in the region in the best way. The monastery is a complex structure, consisting of the church Trapeza and the seminar room and the chapel built separately in the southeast of this building complex. Since the monastery consists of four different structures, it is also referred to as the "Four Churches" today, as in historical sources. The church, which is the focal point of the monastery, has a basilica plan with three naves and measures 28.40x18.65 meters from the outside. The eastern façade of the church consists of two vertically different heights and three horizontally stepped sections. It contains the apse in the middle and the surfaces of the pastophorion rooms in this direction on the sides. The triangular pediment section is enlivened by two-stage, round-arched arcades. There are rectangular windows with round arches arranged symmetrically on the façade. Prothesis and diaconicon are arranged on both sides of the façade. The north façade appears as two floors. The lower floor consists of the north side nave and the prothesis, and the upper floor consists of the surfaces of the middle nave in this direction.
