Terzibaba Mosque and Complex
Danyal Tevfik Çiper designed the mosque and complex in Erzincan's Fevzi Paşa Neighborhood. Terzibaba Mosque is the mosque that can accommodate the most people under a dome in Turkey. The two minarets of the mosque, which was built with a modern architectural understanding instead of classical Ottoman style mosque architecture, were inspired by swords, while the sharp ends of the swords show the direction of the qibla. Looking at the Terzi Baba Mosque from the Qibla perspective, the place in question also resembles a space shuttle. Its total capacity is 7000 people. 4000 people can worship under a dome. In Terzibaba Mosque, the carpets are made of yellow dots on a blue background, that is, to resemble the sky, and the windows are positioned so that you can see the majestic mountains in front of them. The architect of the mosque is Danyal Tevfik Çiper (1932 – 2008). The building has a large parking lot, business center and social facilities. Its construction took 12 years due to financial difficulties. It was opened to worship in the Ramadan of 2002 without the official opening. It has a design that mixes modern and classic styles. Although at first it drew criticism like most modern architecture mosques, it is now a very popular and adopted mosque by the people of Erzincan. Architect Tevfik Çiper also designed the Erzincanda Business Center and Bus Terminal.
