The Museum of the Republic (Second Parliament House)

The museum, which served as the 2nd Turkish Grand National Assembly building at the foundation of the Republic of Turkey; It was dedicated to the youth of the republic, witnessing the birth of Atatürk's principles and revolutions and the multi-party system.

The building was designed and built in 1923 by the architect Vedat Tek as Gathering Venue for the People’s Republic Party. However, when the first building of the Turkish Grand National Assembly was not sufficient, this building was converted into a Parliament Building and was put into service on 18 October 1924. The building is built on the basement as two-storey cut stone building. Arches seen in the windows, tile panels on the facades, wide eaves, wooden ceilings decorated with hand-drown Ot- toman and Seljuk motifs reflect the characteristics of the 1st National Architecture Movement. The building of the II. Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which has an important place in the Tur- kish Political History, has continued to function for 36 years until 27 May 1960.
