Turkish and Greek Neighborhoods (Bozcaada)
The island center, where the ferry docks, is the island's only collective settlement. The island center is like a cute Aegean town with its nostalgic streets. The stream that used to run through the middle of the town played a role in dividing the center into Greek and Turkish quarters. There is no such creek and separation anymore, but it is possible to understand which neighborhood you are in from the architectural differences.
The Greek Quarter is very striking with its well-kept houses, beautiful doors, and thousands of flowers. The fact that the streets cross each other perpendicularly gives the neighborhood an orderly atmosphere. There is a church and clock tower in the middle of the neighborhood. The cafes, taverns and taverns of the past now serve as touristic restaurants, cafes and shops. Most of the old Greek houses are used as summer houses, hostels and hotels. The number of Greeks living today does not exceed 10.
The Turkish Quarter distinguishes itself with its winding streets and wooden houses with bay windows. There has been an increase in the number of hostels and hotels opened here in recent years. Most of the restaurants are located in the harbor section of the Turkish Quarter.
It is possible to walk around the streets in the center of the island within 1 hour at a slow pace. But going around once is not enough, a new detail is caught every time. Especially for photography lovers, side streets are places to spend a lot of time.
