Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum

The first museum in Bursa was established with the personal efforts of Bursa Education Director Azmi Bey and Male High School accountant Reşad Bey, with the ethnographic and archaeological artefacts collected from the surrounding area opened to visitors in the garden and laboratory of the Boys' High School (August 19, 1902). The museum, which developed and enriched in a short time with the efforts of primary education inspectors, teachers and students under the management of Governor Mümtaz Reşid Pasha, was officially put into service in September 1904 by the General Director of Museums Osman Hamdi Bey as a branch of the Imperial Museum. was given the status of directorate. The following year, considering its development, it was moved to Yeşil Madrasah and was opened to visitors on April 8, 1930, after it was arranged and exhibited by Aziz Ogan, the Director of the Istanbul Museum. In 1955, the madrasa building was repaired and the museum was put into service with a new arrangement in October 1956. Bursa Museum, which has been operating as a mixed museum for many years, was reorganized after the archaeological artifacts were moved to the modern building built in Kültürpark and was put into service as Bursa Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum on 22 November 1975.
