Virgin Mary Church (Bozcaada)
It is the only church open to worship belonging to the Greek Orthodox community in Bozcaada. It is located in the middle of the Greek Quarter. The date of 1869 is read on the entrance door of the church, and it is thought that the first construction date goes back to the time of the Venetians. Since the 4-storey bell and clock tower in its courtyard began to split and drop parts due to the erosion of time, it was partially dismantled in the 1980s and the tower was enclosed in a metal cage. Its height is 23.8 meters. Restoration of the church's tower was started in 2006 and completed in 2007. With this bell tower, the island center regained its old silhouette. Your only opportunity to see inside the church is at 8 am on Sunday mornings. Other than that, it is closed to visitors.
