Viziers Inn
Vezir Han is a caravanserai located in the Çemberlitaş neighborhood of the Fatih district in Istanbul, giving its name to the street on which it stands. According to the inscription dated 1659-60, it was built by Fazıl Ahmet Pasha to be included in the Köprülü Complex. In the alphabetical guide titled Istanbul Hanları (Caravanserais of Istanbul), prepared by the Istanbul General Caravanserai Masters Association, its name is given as “Vezir Han” and its location as Nuruosmaniye.
There were nineteen rooms in Vezir Han for Catholic Georgians who had settled in Istanbul. They hosted people coming from Georgia in these rooms. Two of the rooms were completely destroyed in the 1894 earthquake; six were damaged. These rooms, which actually belonged to the Bomonti Georgian Catholic Church, were registered under the name of a person named Madam Lusi Köçeoğlu. With the outbreak of World War I, poor management, and the inability to resolve the property issue, these rooms were taken away from the Bomonti Georgian Catholic Church.
