Wish Hill (Temenni Tepesi )

Ürgüp is a Cappadocia city that has experienced many civilizations throughout history and attained wisdom. Its known history begins with the stone age. It was called Osiana in the Byzantine period, Hagios Prokopios, Başhisar in the Seljuks, Burgut Castle in the Ottomans, and Ürgüp after the republic. Ürgüp, which is 22 km away from Nevşehir, is one of the most embroidered places in the world not only with its history, but also with its million-year-old fairy chimneys, which are the gift of nature. Temenni Hill is located in the very center of Ürgüp. Revealing the city panorama with its height of 80 meters, this rocky hill, which can be seen from all over Ürgüp, got its name from making a wish and tying a rag in the tomb on its summit. One of the proofs that the use of the name 'Temenni' is very old is that this name is frequently encountered in Sumerian texts and one of its meanings is 'the sacred place where praying-sacrifice area'.
