Yunus Emre Tomb
Sheik Yunus Emre Tomb is a mausoleum in the Gölevi neighborhood of Ünye, in the province of Ordu, where Yunus Emre is allegedly buried. However, Ünye is not the only place where Yunus Emre Tomb is allegedly located. Today, the tomb is enclosed in a modern structure. It is known that there used to be a mausoleum here and that this mausoleum was called “Şehnuz” and “Şeynuz” by the people. It is assumed that the name Sheikh Yunus was transformed into “Şehnuz” or “Şeynuz” over time.
Sheikh Yunus Emre Mausoleum is located on a hill overlooking the city of Unye. There is a cemetery, which is not old, around the modern structure in which the sarcophagus is located. The road leading to the mausoleum is called the “Sufi Way” and on both sides of the road there are signs with Yunus Emre's poems. There are two graves in the immediate vicinity of the mausoleum, which have been renovated, but the gravestone indicates that they are old. An old tree on the west side of the tomb is remarkable. In the middle of the building, which is dominated by gray color, has a dome and large windows, there is a cist with a green cover on it. The cist is surrounded by iron bars. Stools were placed inside the mausoleum for the public to sit and pray.
