Zeynel Bey Madrasa
The madrasa is located in the Biçer District of Hakkari, among the gardens and by the stream. The madrasa found during the survey initiated in Hakkari in 1998; It has been defined as a building with a rectangular plan in the north-south direction and sitting on an area of 17.20x22.20 m outer dimensions. Since the building was largely destroyed in this period, it was not possible to reveal its plan completely without excavation and cleaning. However, a courtyard in the middle and the madrasa rooms lined by it can be understood. The rooms are square and rectangular in plan and covered with barrel vaults. Rubble stone and rough cut stones were used throughout the madrasah. Although there is no inscription on the madrasa, it can be learned from historical sources by whom it was built. Suleiman the Magnificent and II. It is understood that it was built by Zeynel Bey, the Bey of Hakkari, who had the privilege of Selim. Zeynel Bey stayed in Hakkari Sanjak between 1560-1578 and probably had the madrasah built between these dates. Again, according to the Şerefname, the body of Zeynel Bey, who was martyred in Marend during a war with the Iranians in 1585, was transferred to Çölemerik in 1587 and buried in the courtyard of the madrasah he had built. Zeynel Bey Madrasa was identified and tried to be defined according to the current situation, and it was registered and taken under protection with the decision of the Diyarbakir Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation Board on 14.11.1998/2159. Excavation and cleaning works were carried out in 2005 and 2006 in order to fully reveal and restore the structure. In these cleaning works, the exterior and interior of the madrasah were cleaned and the structure was completely revealed.
