Zincirli Rock

Elmalı Mountain is at an altitude of 2250 m, in the north of Elmalı. The establishment of the city started from the slope of Elmalı Mountain. There is a large rock mass breaking off from this mountain, which seems to be standing imperceptibly on the slope, right above the city. The story of this rock, which is believed to be connected with a spiritual chain, is as follows; At the top of the city, at the foot of the mountain, one of Elmalı's sufi poets and Halveti Sheikh Vahab-i Ummi ( V.1004 H. / 1595 M. ) has a dervish lodge. One day, while he was busy with dhikr and education with his disciples, a thunderstorm and shaking occured, and a large rock mass broke off from the mountain top and began to roll towards the city with all its speed. The horror of this situation makes those who see it fear and panic. Vahab-i Ummi Hz. At this exciting moment, he stands against the rock mass that is rolling towards them from the mountain, and stretches out his hands to Allah Almighty and prays in such a way that he shouts out loud, "My God, Chain from Meded Sen" in the excitement of that moment. This prayer, which makes the eardrums vibrate, surprises everyone, because that rolling rock mass stopped just a short distance from the dervish lodge, and it looks like it has been stuck in its place since 1500 years. The people of the city also called this rock "Chain Rock" to express that they were bound by spiritual chains by Allah.
